![]() So are the services that you install with it also removable and would you use your iTunes store ID or icloud e-mail address.Yahoo Messenger is an IM app developed by Yahoo that lets you send text and voice messages to all your Yahoo contacts. Thing about this is I wouldn't want to set it up only to find that I can't message the guy on the other side on his PC because it's not compatible with PC or he isn't using the same service that I set up for nothing. Is it compatible to a PC user using Google Chat or Yahoo Instant Messenger and again what does AIM stand for? If it uses Google Talk what is SMS to phone call does it include video as well when you use Google Talk and do you have to install that Google software on your Mac to use it? I also read something about when Messages isn't available is send SMS but when it is it send it as Messages? I don't have any idea because I haven't even got it set up on my Mac. Also Messages being a service in itself would mean that these other instant messenger would not have to be added am I correct? If I knew a guy on a PC (non-Mac) would I be able to communicate with him through the message app using Google Chat not talk? Also what is AIM? Is AIM something to do with AOL Instant messenger or is it a whole different service. "Limit the Logs to the Bits above Binary Images." No, Seriously ![]() So, yes, iMessages as a service that is Mac to/from Mac or iOS device. Video chats (or Audio Only) are more difficult to PCs (leaning strongly towards Impossible). These three services can be accessed by app on PCs and Macs as well as Linux users with suitable apps. The Mac version can have other account with the AIM service, a Jabber Service which includes GoogleTalk and for Text only a Yahoo account. This remains essentially Mac to Mac be it iOS device or a computer running OS X 10.8.x and above. On the Mac version of Messages iMessages is just one account you can set it up for. In other words would the PC user have to have Messages installed on his PC or just the other services like Yahoo etc, etc? Is Messages a service in itself or just the app that supports the other services and when you say only compatible with iOS or Mac do you mean Message would be the service? Confused! □Ī service for sending iMessages to and from Apple devicesĪn iOS devices the app is called Messages and can send iMessages as above or SMS messages to non Apple phones In other words is Messages a service in itself when you say only compatible with Macs and iOS in that it will only work set up as Messages or is it also an app that you can add the other services to the app that will allow it to communicate with a PC? ![]() ![]() Is iMessage the service or the app that supports the other services. Your saying you can use it to communicate with a PC (non-Mac) user that uses the same account but then your also saying it's only compatible with Apple so which is it? If it's only compatible with Apple devices then you wouldn't be able to communicate with a PC right?ĭoes it work with Google Chat rather than Google Talk? And is AIM (AOL Instant Messenger by any chance)? Or are you saying that Message is a seperate service by itself in that it can only be compatible with Macs and iOS. ![]()
